Community Relations is Florida International University’s
protocol and institutional events office. As part of the Division
of University & Community Relations has proven itself
with a tract record consisting of years of experience and proficiency
in designing, producing and managing first class institutional
and protocol events for FIU and has become a consultant to
many units throughout the university. Its leadership abilities
strengthen the university through the planning and coordinating
of major events that enhance the institution’s image
as a whole.
Community Relations expertise lies in three main areas:
Institutional events consist
of planning, coordinating and executing large, official
Community Relations such as commencement, freshman
convocation, and faculty
convocation.
Protocol is
comprised of official events such as building groundbreakings, ribboncuttings and dedications In
addition, this department is responsible for organizing visits
from heads-of- state and high-ranking dignitaries such as Vaclav Havel., president
of the Czech Republic,
Yitzhak Navon, former Israeli president, the Dalai Lamaand Jorge
Batlle of Uruguay.
The
Lecture Series is made up of a distinguished group
of speakers in the areas of social science. Community Relations manages these events which exposes FIU students to renowned men and women including Nobel
Laureates. Some of these notable speakers include Alex Penelas, Hans Kung, Mario
Molina and Carlos Alberto Montaner.
