Donor Relations
The concept of stewardship can be traced back to the middle ages, the steward charged with the responsibility of protecting the estate of the owner. With respect to Florida International University, stewardship is the process whereby FIU cares for and protects its philanthropic support in a way that responds to the donor's expectations and wishes.
With donor stewardship as its primary focus, the Office of Donor Relations fosters lasting relationships between FIU and those who support the institution through thoughtful and timely acknowledgement and recognition of their philanthropic gifts. The Office of Donor Relations is entrusted to report in a consistent and accurate manner the use and impact of donor contributions, ensuring proper accountability and adherence to the Donor Bill of Rights.
Our Vision
The Office of Donor Relations aspires to be donor-centered and cultivation-focused in creating a distinctive donor giving experience at Florida International University. Donors are the center of our work. As our first and foremost priority, they deserve the greatest recognition and stewardship opportunities and the highest level of quality service. The development and delivery of our programs and services are done in our donors’ best interests. In a culture of philanthropic gratitude and mutual respect, we will provide experiences that engage donors in their own giving and in the University’s mission.
Our Mission
The mission of the Office of Donor Relations is to foster enduring relationships with the University’s major donors through timely, appropriate and engaging stewardship and recognition programs.
