Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations
The Office of Corporate and& Foundation Relations (CFR) works with administrators, faculty, and development staff across the University to discover, build and sustain relationships with private foundations and corporations that support Florida International University's teaching, research, and service mission. The primary source of contact for all corporations, foundations, and organizations with an interest in FIU academics, research, and public service, the office seeks support for institutional priorities and multidisciplinary projects which involve two or more academic units.
The CFR office works closely with Alumni Affairs, the Office of Sponsored Research Administration (OSRA), deans, development officers, faculty and staff to ensure coordinated, fully authorized approaches to corporate and foundation funding.
Functions
• Establish and maintain administrative practices that ensure a coordinated and strategic approach to foundation and corporate funding.
•
Promote university priority initiatives and identify promising projects that further FIU’s goals and objectives.
• Work with colleges and units to identify and develop programs that strengthen the University's relationships with corporations and private foundations.
• Identify and provide research on appropriate foundation and corporate funding sources in conjunction with the Office of Research & Prospect Management.
• Assist faculty, administrators, and staff in brokering relationships with key representatives of business and private foundations.
• Develop and manage multiple unit submissions to corporations and foundations.
• Manage ongoing cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of foundations and corporations.
• Prepare and/or edit concept summaries, letters of inquiry, proposals and grant reports.
• Provide final review and approval of corporate and foundation official communications (e.g. proposals).
• Act as University Advancement liaison to OSRA.
• Assist with determination of grant/gift routing to appropriate University entity.
• Assist with timely reporting throughout the duration of a grant.
• Coordinate site visits for potential and current funders.
• Manage the University's corporate and foundation clearance procedure process in conjunction with the Office of Research & Prospect Management.
CFR is committed to maximizing external support for the University. To this end, we focus on funding institutional priorities identified by the university, but also seek to encourage and assist deans, development officers, faculty and staff in securing corporate and foundation support for their scholarly, academic, and outreach goals.
