The
Council of 100 is a primary external support organization for
the institution’s academic leadership and a major component
of the university’s fund-raising program. In partnership
with the President, Provost and Deans, the Council of 100 facilitates
the bridging of academia, community and industry to ensure that
FIU
graduates are prepared for current and anticipated challenges in specific professions.
In addition to
securing much needed financial support, the Council
of 100 provides the perspective of employers and industry leaders to general
academic planning and long-term curricular strategies and serves as an advisory
group
to
the Provost.
The two main initiatives of the Council of 100 are the Outstanding Faculty Award
and Top Student
Recruitment Program.
• The
Council of 100 Outstanding Faculty Award is a $10,000 grant
awarded annually to a faculty member
of the University who has demonstrated sustained
excellence in the three areas that constitute the University's mission
- teaching, research, and
service.
The Council of 100 presents this award during the Faculty Convocation ceremonies
and hosts an annual
reception to recognize its winners.
